Let's Make Fair Work

I am keen to prioritise work that focuses on decolonising theatre as I grow my portfolio. In line with this I wanna hear about your project if it disrupts Westernisation and challenges our

grand narratives

My experience is with Sámi and Gaelic artists as they navigate decolonising how theatre made in a minority language is structured and represented. We do this by examining:

  • how indigenous storytelling structures ideas;

  • the ways cultures are embedded in language;

  • modes of dissembling national perspectives;

  • new processes that challenge theatre norms.

I recognise the limited perspectives within my work to date so am keen to learn more and engage with alternative cultural methods for decolonising dramaturgy in the UK and abroad.

Contact me with the email at the bottom of this page and let me know about your project. If it intersects with queer and sustainable methods then I am extra excited to hear about it!

my Practices

Decolonising
Commissions

I have examined the traditional methods producing houses and companies conduct their commissions and have developed alternative ways of structuring the process that are inclusive and just, aiming to make commissioning more equitable for marginalised writers.

Alternative Structures

I have explored how culture can shape and challenge the ways we structure plays and/or texts. This uses dramaturgy to deliver new ways of seeing how theatre as an art form is designed and enable artists to express alternative ways of existing within new textual or devising approaches.

Representing Differences

I have conducted extensive research within cultural contexts and how artists express their sense of selfs through various forms. This focuses dramaturgy as a cultural heritage and supports artists to safely explore ways of representing different cultural identities in theatre.
